Steve Palmer is the author of Say Grace: How the Restaurant Business Saved My Life. The restaurant business enabled Palmer’s addictions—normalizing his drinking and drug use until he could not function. As a result, he wrecked his marriage, racked up DUIs, and managed restaurants worth millions of dollars.
Through his deeply personal stories, Palmer paints a picture that will be familiar to anyone who has worked in the food and beverage industry. His analysis of how he arrived at his addiction and how he found his way out, is a beacon to the struggling.
He went on to found The Indigo Road, a restaurant group comprised of some of the most innovative establishments in the country. He has been recognized by The New York Times, L.A. Times, NPR, Southern Living, Food & Wine, The James Beard Foundation, and Forbes Small Business Giants.
To honor the people and business he loves, Palmer created Ben’s Friends in 2016, a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering hope, fellowship, and a path forward to professionals who struggle with substance abuse and addiction.
