Stephen Amoah, Ph.D., is this year’s keynote speaker for the Symposium of University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE). Amoah's talk, "Science and Sidelines,”  provides an autobiographical glimpse of his experience at Lenoir-Rhyne  and his transition into graduate school and professional life. He will share tips and lessons that helped him succeed along the way, including noting resources that students often don’t utilize and what helped him maximize his undergraduate experience. 

Biography

Stephen Amoah is a technical product manager for Kurt J. Lesker Company in their Process and Equipment Division. He is responsible for developing research and development systems for fabricating semiconductor devices such as solar cells, OLEDs, thin film batteries and others.

Amoah was raised in Charlotte and attended Lenoir-Rhyne University, where he majored in physics while playing linebacker for the four-time defending South Atlantic Conference champion football team. He recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering, where his research focus was on improving light extraction methods of OLEDs. Amoah enjoys sports and spending time with his family. He lives in Raleigh with his lovely wife and their newborn son.
