The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs will host the inaugural Lenoir-Rhyne University Martin Luther King Day Prayer Breakfast. The breakfast starts at 7 a.m. and program at 8:30 a.m.
The MLK Day Prayer Breakfast is free and open to the public, however advanced registration is required.
Panelists
Join our panel of leading idealists, educators, and professionals in the Hickory community to celebrate the spiritual legacy and moral courage that Dr. King brought to the social justice movement.
Gianella Romero
Romero is the executive director of Centro Latino and a first-generation Mexican-American native to Hickory. As a strong administrative professional with a passion for advocacy and leadership, Romero believes that People of Color leadership and representation is vital in our community to educate and inspire youth.
Ida Clough
Ida Clough is the president of the Hickory chapter of NAACP and a retired educator with a vast background in education and non-profit service organizations. Clough understands the importance of social justice in all areas of the culture, particularly in the educational realm.
Honey Yang Estrada
Yang Estrada is the president of the North Carolina Community Health Worker Association. The eldest daughter of Hmong refugees who came to the United States during times of war. Honey understands the struggles families face in navigating various societal systems and the existing barriers that inhibit them from achieving positive outcomes.
Pastor Todd Cutter
Rev. Todd Cutter is the Lenoir-Rhyne University campus pastor, and serves as director of spiritual life and director of counseling services. In addition to leading chapel services at LR, Cutter supports faith-based groups on campus and strengthens relationships with community churches to provide spiritual guidance and equality such as St. Andrews Lutheran
