Water is the first medicine.
It affects and connects us all . . .
When a black snake threatens to destroy the Earth
And poison her people’s water, one young water protector
Takes a stand to defend Earth’s most sacred resource.
Inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America, We Are Water Protectors issues an urgent rallying cry to safeguard the Earth’s water from harm and corruption.
The book was written by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Michaela Goade, who will be on campus as a part of LR’s Visiting Writers Series. Adapted for the stage by Lindsay Weitkamp, along with designers Bill West-Davis, Rachel Moore, and Sam Miller, this children’s theatre production will take you through the powerful narrative on a journey of light, sound, puppetry, and movement as we explore the interconnectedness of all living things.
This production of "We Are Water Protectors" is presented in collaboration with The Visiting Writers Series, The Little Read.
