Join us and experience this 10.6-mile out-and-back trail at Grandfather Mountain near Banner Elk, North Carolina. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 6 hours and 10 minutes to complete. If you get tired, you can turn back at any point. This is a popular trail for backpacking, camping and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are April through October. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash.

The hike difficulty is moderate/advanced. You will need to pack several liters of water and a couple of sandwiches and snacks. You are going to be using up a lot of energy, which means you will need plenty of food. Confidence is required. We will be hiking on steep terrain, so hiking boots are strongly encouraged.

If you want to attend the hike, RSVP using this Google Spreadsheet. If you can drive, please indicate if you are willing to drive and the number of open seats for other students. We will meet at LR in the Moretz Stadium parking lot at 9 a.m.
