About this Event
Free EventJoin us for a hike in the Linville Gorge to the Daffodil Flats. At the bottom of the gorge, there is an old homestead that planted daffodils in the 1800s. The home is gone but the daffodils have flourished. At this time of year, there are about 2 acres of yellow daffodils in bloom. After visiting the flats, we will hike out of the gorge on a 1.2-mile trail that climbs 2000 feet. The total distance for this hike is about 5 miles. The anticipated return to campus is 1 p.m. unless the group decides to stop at Fonta Flora Brewing for a meal.
The hike activity level is hard, with a 200-foot gain in elevation (similar to walking up 200 flights of stairs). The weather will be cool, but you will still need to bring water as this is a strenuous hike. Required equipment includes a day pack with food and water. Hiking boots are recommended.
If you want to attend the event, register using this Google Spreadsheet. Please indicate if you are willing to drive and the number of open seats for other students in your vehicle. We will meet at LR in the Moretz Stadium parking lot at 7 a.m.
