The blanket exercise is an experiential history of the indigenous peoples of Turtle Island, what we call the United States. The historical narrative includes passages from diaries kept by various military leaders and recounts the genocide and forced migration of indigenous communities.

It is a chilling experience and is followed up by a discussion facilitated by Vance Blackfox (a Cherokee Lutheran theologian) of indigenous history and theology that offers an important corrective to the predominant Western narratives.

The blanket exercise will last 90-120 minutes and is limited to 50 participants.

This event is free and open to LR students, faculty, and staff. Please email Debbie Tonnesen at debbie.tonnesen@lr.edu if you have any questions.
